The Training Committee of the Institute formulates each year’s curriculum, adjusts it to current developments and discloses it to every training member. The curriculum contains the required literature, and a schedule of the chapters that are to be presented from each training member, in collaboration with a trainer.

The first year consists of an introduction to the foundations of psychoanalysis, and its application in individual and group psychotherapy, as well as couples and family therapy. The aim of the training in this unit, is to provide the trainees with a framework for the understaning of psychoanalytic thought, and to prepare them for the systematic and in-depth knowledge that is presented in the following years of training. The core of this unit refers to the work of Freud, Bion, Foulkes, Scharff & Scharff and Yalom, among others. The curriculum of this year comprises a structured ensemble of theoretical courses and group experiences, that consist of an autonomous, certified Foundation Course. .

The second year is dedicated to the development of the psychoanalytic theory up to our days. This unit consists of an extensive account of the major represantatives of the modern psychoanalytic era, their theoretical and clinical milestones, as well as their general contributions in the field of dynamic / analytic psychotherapy. As an indication we refer to the life and work of Anna Freud, Melanie Klein, Margaret Mahler, Donald Winnicott, S.H. Foulkes, Wilfred Bion, Otto Kernberg, Heinz Kohut, Ronald Fairbairn, Farhad Dalal, Jacques Lacan etc.

The third and fourth year units focus on an extensive account of group analytic theory, technique, and special applications in the groups.

In the fifth year’s unit the focus is on the application of psychoanalytic theory in the setting of family and couples therapy, as well as some general guidelines for the implication of systemic principles in theory and practice.

Except from the attendance and completion of the aformention, the members of the Institute are invited to participate in the “Saturday Seminars”. Those optional three hour workshops are conducted monthly in the premises of the Institute, on Saturdays, 10.30-13.30. The content of the seminars is selected and presented by members of the Institute and the courses are offered with the aim to enrich and expand the curriculum of the formal training programme. The participants are encouraged to participate with questions, comments, personal experiences etc. Attendance is free of charge for all the Institute members. The schedule of the Saturday Seminars is disclosed to all the members and uploaded to the site’s blog and calendar.
